One Room Challenge - Week 8

Sunday, November 21, 2021

Happy Thanksgiving Week from AMI!  I wish I could report that this Coastal Grandmillennial Guest Bedroom and Bathroom were complete, but that's not the case.  I will show you the progress so far and post additional updates soon.

One Room Challenge - Week 4

I don't have anything really exciting to share for week 3 or week 4 of the One Room Challenge.
Last weekend we had a soccer tournament with 6 games so nothing was accomplished in the space.

One exciting thing was that I ordered wallpaper.  Which one do you think I decided on?

Navy and Gold Fall Screen Porch

Tuesday, October 19, 2021

One of the best things about North Carolina is our gorgeous weather!  We spend a ton of time on our screen porch as a result of the lovely temperatures.  I thought it would be fun to show you how I transform our porch from Summer/Early Fall to Full on Fall.

Let's start with the Summer/Early Fall look.

Blood Orange Moscow Mule Recipe

I have your new favorite Fall cocktail (or mocktail)!  These blood orange Moscow mules do not disappoint!

One Room Challenge - Week 2

Thursday, October 7, 2021

It's design plan reveal day!  I'm going to show you how I plan to take this small guest room with en suite and make it both beautiful and functional for our guests.  Keep in mind that this bedroom is small, it has two walls of windows and four doors!  Yes, that's four doors!  There are two glass french doors that open into the space, one door that goes into the bathroom, and one door that leads to the closet.

To do list:

  • New Bedding

  • Steam Curtains

  • Add Curtain Trim

  • New Curtain rods

  • Nightstands

  • Lamps

  • Reupholster cube ottomans

  • Desk/console table

  • Wallpaper bathroom

  • Install new vanity

  • Install new bath hardware

You can check out all of the participants here.

One Room Challenge - Week 1

Sunday, October 3, 2021

I'm so excited to be a guest participant again in the One Room Challenge by Better Homes and Gardens.  You may recall that I participated in the Spring One Room Challenge and updated our primary bedroom. It is now a restful and relaxing Coastal Grandmillennial Primary Bedroom.

Let's take a look at how the Coastal Grandmillennial Primary Bedroom finished.

Instagram Roundup

Thursday, September 23, 2021

Hi Folks!  It seems like it's been forever since I posted over here on the blog! It hasn't really been that long though. Do you follow me on LTK (formerly known as LikeToKnow.it)?  I post there and on Instagram pretty regularly.

Here's a round-up of my latest posts from those two spots in case you prefer the blog format.

I can't say enough good things about these glass hand and dish soap dispensers. They are so pretty that I almost don't mind doing the dishes.

One of the things that I'm asked about the most in our home are these two beauties, my fiddle leaf fig trees, better known as Frank & Fiona. My FLF's are real and started out maybe 1.5 feet tall, now they are huge some 7 years later. I have linked some faux options below for you.

If you are looking for a new, budget-friendly Fall wreath, here's some options for you. Some of these may already be sold out or only available in stores.

Last, but not least, my all-time favorite Soma Cool Night's pajamas are on major sale!

Ever wondered what it would be like to partner with me on a distance design aka e-design? Here's a preview of what you, the client, receives when you purchase a Distance Design/e-Design package.

When we collaborate on an e-design, you will receive a design board like this that shows what the space looks like all together. Then at the bottom is your shopping list to purchase items on your time as your budget allows.

Samsung The Frame TV Glow Up

Sunday, August 29, 2021

Happy Sunday! I hope that you had an amazing weekend.  As a Raleigh interior designer, I recommend Samsung's The Frame Art TV to all of my clients.

I finally got around to ordering the black customizable bezel (aka a magnet frame that clips onto your Frame TV). It came in on Saturday night so this morning I started to coat it in Rub N Buff.

The Frame TV

Monday, August 16, 2021

Happy Monday!  Those of you that have been around here for a while know that I am a HUGE fan of the Samsung The Frame TV.  I upload art through the Samsung Smart Things app, but I was only able to get the no mat options with art that I purchased from Samsung.

La Vita Classica II gifted by Josh Wilson Prints

I have a new tip on how to use your own art without a mat!  Use this app to re-size your artwork prior to uploading via SmartThings:

My client Tess is based in Atlanta, and she discovered me through my Home Office Conversion posts on one of the Facebook decorating groups. She has amazing taste and already had a base of furniture, so I got to come in and all of the pretty stuff. Please reach out to me if you are interested in making over any of your spaces. I do interior design for the Raleigh, Wake Forest area and also offer distance design aka e-Design for all over the United States including Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

My Favorite Studio McGee for Target - Launching Sunday, July 11th

Friday, July 9, 2021

These are my very favorite pieces.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. All images in this post are courtesy of the Studio McGee fall collection at Target.

Lots of this collection is really good and leans toward the Coastal Grandmillennial Hampton vibe.

Pillow collections

If you need new pillows here's two curated collections of designer pillows for less.

The best part besides the prices (between $10-4$0), is that most are 20 x 20 or  22 x 22 which is the best size for sofas.

Southern Screen Porch with Shiplap

I want to show you just how far our screen porch has come since we moved in a year and a half ago. This was our first major project on this house.  This just shows what a great contractor, sweat equity, and about $3,000 will get you. This pricing was way before lumber prices went up though and most of the project supplies were Hardie board.

This is how the porch looks now (sort of, we got new furniture that I haven't photographed yet).

This is what the porch looked like when the house was listed.  I'll wait right here while you scroll back up and down ;)

This was taken shortly after we moved in.  It wasn't terrible, but we didn't have any privacy.

This is what our porch looked like in our last house for reference.

And back to our current porch. What a difference one wall can make!

Lucas and I made this faux succulent insert last summer for the "firebox".  Nick built the mantel to my specs.

My friend Jessica, from Something Blue Farmhouse, came to visit in June and we hung out on the porch. Jessica helped me style for a photoshoot while she was here.

Wow! You made it to the end of this photo filled post. I hope that it inspires you!  If you feel overwhelmed by this sort of project, give me a shout!
