Home Office Update

Oh what a difference a little bit of paint can make!  Well, maybe not a little bit of paint, more like a whole gallon. We chose Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray for my Hubby's home office.

DIY Velvet Tufted Storage Ottoman

Monday, August 11, 2014

Prior to moving into our new house, I kept seeing beautiful, tufted velvet ottomans that I thought would look amazing with our grey sectional.  I didn't love the price tag $500 and up. Plus, I wanted it to be teal, 36" diameter and have storage.

We wound up purchasing the Threshold Nolan Round Ottoman on clearance from Target.
We removed all of the faux leather from the bottom and wrapped in the perfect teal velvet fabric that I got from the remnant bin from Joann's for $9 a yard.  I bought all that they had which was over 3 yards, but we have a ton left over.  Handsome Hubs then pulled the table top wood off of the inside of the lid as we couldn't figure out how to upholster around it.  This caused the wood top to crack so we traced the cracked round onto plywood and created a whole new wood top. We were able to reuse all of the foam and batting. The total project cost was $206.  Way cheaper than the custom ottomans you can design at the furniture stores and it is exactly what we wanted and needed. Below is the final product. We completed this project in Handsome Hubby's Parent's NC B&B which is where we lived for 3 months while our house was being built.

Lighting from World Market

Saturday, August 9, 2014

World Market has become one of my go-to stores for home decor and furniture.  Many of their items have the look of higher end items found at Pottery Barn and West Elm.

I may need this outdoor pendant for over the dining table on our porch.

Myrtle Beach Family Trip

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

We are on our way home from a long weekend at Myrtle Beach.  Unfortunately, it was rainy and overcast our whole trip.  We made the most of it though.  I recommend staying at Kingston Plantation as it is ocean front and close to the Tanger Outlets, Broadway at the Beach, and Barefoot Landing.

Luckily we had brought the Lego Creator Seaside House with us.  We built two of the three builds at a card table in front of the huge ocean front balcony.

We actually made it to the beach for a couple rain free hours, did lots of shopping, ate a lot of seafood and played  miniature golf late night.  Plus we made wonderful memories with Nana, Papa, Uncle Tom, Aunt Michelle & Cousin Efward.

What does your family do on rainy days while on vacation?
