Dining Room aka Lego Library

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I have been on a blogging hiatus.  I think I got burnt out from too many late nights plus eating, sleeping, living and breathing design.

We have made a lot of progress on our Dining Room.  However, we don't eat in there.  Ever.  We use the huge table to build Legos.  Lots and lots of Legos!

But one day a month we clean up all the Legos...today was that day.

Here is a close up of the faux zinc table base.  You may remember this table was a Craig's List find see here. When we brought it home it was lemon yellow.

The dining chairs are from World Market and the rug was found on a Joss & Main.  It is an indoor/outdoor Safaveih rug that is perfect for easy clean up in a kids space.

The art is from Ikea and I fell in love because we have been to Paris and London so it has personal meaning for us.

I found this chandy on Joss & Main and was lucky enough to find it for sale on Craig's List the very next day.

Headboards for my boys

M&L have requested a blue room with blue beds and blue blankets.  I wonder what their favorite color is?

I did a mock up with some Premier Prints fabrics.  Which one is your favorite?

If I had a girl

Friday, March 28, 2014

Happy Friday!  My boys room post was so popular, I thought I would show some love to my friends that have girls.   If I had a girl, I would have outfitted her entire room at the Raleigh Flea Market this weekend.

I just love this coral vanity, chair and pink houndstooth stool.

This chandelier was amazing!

The cloche above almost came home with me. Call me crazy, but there was something about these turquoise Grandma lamps that I was drawn to.

You never know what treasures you will find at the Raleigh Flea Market.

Lego Star Wars Party

We had Mason's 5th birthday party on Saturday.

Confections in NoVa did a fabulous job on the cupcakes!

These bubble wands were a huge hit, both for bubbles and as light sabers.

Boyz Room

My Mason turns 5 tomorrow!  I can't believe it!  His birthday has me thinking about some updates for the bedroom that he shares with his brother Lucas who is 3 and a half.

Mason and Lucas both fell in love with the Happy Chic blue bedding above while shopping in JCP. Before I knew it they had both made themselves comfortable in the showroom bed. I am sure the store clerks just loved that!

Landscaping

Friday, March 14, 2014

I have been MIA in blog land lately.  We still haven't unpacked from the cruise and we are planning Mason's 5th birthday party at the last minute.

Landscaping has been on my mind, even with the party planning and unpacking. We have an unsightly view from our side yard and need to plant some fast growing shrubs ASAP.

For the front yard we want to move our Flame Maple over to the left so that it doesn't shade the front of the house as it gets bigger.  We would also like small kidney shaped garden bed with a Crepe Myrtle and some Rose of Sharon's or other flowering shrubs.   Landscape is not my specialty, so I am open to suggestions.

Ready for company

Thursday, March 6, 2014

Our guest room is far from perfect, but it is certainly more comfortable now.

This is how the room looked when I left for work this morning, but then Handsome Hubby made additional tweaks to make it even better.

Forgive the bad lighting as it was dark when I got home.

Our improvement list for this room includes:

Paint
Different curtains
Matching lamps (I have some frm GCF)
Hooking up Dish and a TV
