Boyz Room

My Mason turns 5 tomorrow!  I can't believe it!  His birthday has me thinking about some updates for the bedroom that he shares with his brother Lucas who is 3 and a half.

Mason and Lucas both fell in love with the Happy Chic blue bedding above while shopping in JCP. Before I knew it they had both made themselves comfortable in the showroom bed. I am sure the store clerks just loved that!

Landscaping

Friday, March 14, 2014

I have been MIA in blog land lately.  We still haven't unpacked from the cruise and we are planning Mason's 5th birthday party at the last minute.

Landscaping has been on my mind, even with the party planning and unpacking. We have an unsightly view from our side yard and need to plant some fast growing shrubs ASAP.

For the front yard we want to move our Flame Maple over to the left so that it doesn't shade the front of the house as it gets bigger.  We would also like small kidney shaped garden bed with a Crepe Myrtle and some Rose of Sharon's or other flowering shrubs.   Landscape is not my specialty, so I am open to suggestions.

Ready for company

Thursday, March 6, 2014

Our guest room is far from perfect, but it is certainly more comfortable now.

This is how the room looked when I left for work this morning, but then Handsome Hubby made additional tweaks to make it even better.

Forgive the bad lighting as it was dark when I got home.

Our improvement list for this room includes:

Paint
Different curtains
Matching lamps (I have some frm GCF)
Hooking up Dish and a TV

Aaaaaahhhh! Company is coming

I am so excited to see my best friend!  She is coming to visit on last minute notice, which is totally fine.  Then I remembered the current state of my guest bedroom...uh oh.

Do nearby rooms turn in to a disaster zone when you are working on a nearby room?

Looks like I have some work to do tonight.

Magical Disney Cruise

Saturday, March 1, 2014

We just got back from a magical Disney Cruise aboard the re-imagined Disney Magic.  There are tons of blogs out there with Disney Cruising tips, here are my few favorites:

1. Book through AAA to receive fun perks including a $100 photo credit that affords you 4-8 x 10's and 3-5 x 7's.  Thanks Becky!

2. Bring a large beverage cup to refill at the soda station on deck 9.  It's a long trip to get up there from most places on the ship and the cups they provide are tiny.  See the size of this cup being held by my 3 year old.

3.  You do not have to eat breakfast at 6:45am. That is WAY too early on your final day of vacation.  Instead you can grab a quick bite from the buffet at Cabana's before departing around 8:30am.

4. Watch the latest Disney release movies on board at the Theater. We saw Frozen and it was Amazing!  One of my top 10 from the trip!

Nursery or child's room art from Kirkland's

Sunday, February 23, 2014

I am blogging on the long road trip to Florida. Sunshine, here we come!

So many of my friends are having babies so I thought it would be fun to source nursery art from an unusual source-Kirkland's.  Kirkland's is one of my go to sources for family room, bedroom, and dining room art aka "Adult rooms" but they have some fun pieces for a little boy or girl's room too.

Vacation Wall Art

I love to use art in my home that is personal to my family as I think that helps make our house a home. I am a big fan of Albie Design's. I would love the Washington DC, San Diego and the San Fran prints.

I found a similar style of prints at Ikea of Paris and London which were some of our favorite vacations.

Do you have any travel prints in your home from vacations?  Or vacations you are dreaming about?
