Our Trip to Paris, Milan, Florence and Venice - Part 1 Paris

We just got home from our 20th Anniversary trip to Europe!  It all started when I stumbled upon extremely discounted roundtrip airfare from JFK to CDG (Paris) for $200.00 each. Yes, you read that correctly!  Our total airfare from New York to Paris was only $200!  The sale took place over the summer and I booked the latest possible dates hoping it wouldn't be too cold.

We flew from RDU to JFK using points and stayed at the Hampton Inn JFK Airport.

About a week before the flight I upgraded our seats to the exit rows for $125.00 each/per trip. It was well worth it, especially since Nick is 6'4".  I actually booked seats A (window) and C (aisle) since the plane wasn't full and hoped that we wouldn't have anyone sitting between us. This worked out both directions!

We landed in Paris around 6am and on very little sleep. As a result we booked an Uber to our hotel and prayed that they would have a room available for us. Luckily, they did  and we checked in right away and took a long nap. If you are traveling during busy season, I highly recommend booking your room for the night before to ensure that it is ready when you arrive.

We slept until 10:30am then showered and started exploring around lunchtime. Our hotel was in a great location and was walkable to lots of cafes, bistros, and shops.

We stayed at the Maison Astor Curio Collection by Hilton.   It was in an awesome location that was walkable to lots of restaurants and shops.

After our nap, we decided to go exploring and have some lunch. We had lunch at Perle Noire, the food was excellent and we seemed to be the only tourists in the place.  Then we hopped in an Uber and asked to be dropped off at the Eiffel Tower.

Then we went to the Louvre. Crazy rain and wind so we popped into their cafe, Le Cafe' Marly

Dinner at Cafe Marco Polo - fun vibe! Tons of younger locals.

One of our favorite meals was at Triadou Haussmann Paris

The restaurant was gorgeous and the food was amazing!

Topo Rive Gauche - Lunch spot with rotisserie chicken.

Batobus Tour around Paris - I highly recommend it as it's a great, affordable way to see and move around the city.

This countdown to the Olympics timer/ statue was very neat!

This is why you do a photo shoot (see below)!  Terrible selfies!

The Eiffel Tower was closed our entire trip due to a strike?

Did I mention that it was raining and very windy?  Crazy hair, don't care!

Photo Shoot - Air BNB Experience - The Best Photos in Paris with Bri ***** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had an awesome stay and great time in Paris. Paris is never a bad idea. Stay tuned for highlights from Milan/Lake Como, Florence and Venice.

I hope you all have a fabulous week!
