Bathroom Lighting Woes

Are you all tired of the "Blizzard of 2015?"  We got 1 inch of snow and 1/4 inch of ice in Raleigh and school was closed ALL WEEK!  My whole family is ready to pull their hair out.  Now that the weekend is officially here and our new bathroom lights arrived, I was hoping that we could get the majority of the bathroom redo finished. And that my new bath would look like this:

Yeah right!  I don't have that kind of reno budget but a girl can dream.

I opened the light boxes and they are gorgeous!  I paid close attention to the wattage when ordering the lights and these take 3-65 watt bulbs.  Not bad. But, they are chandelier bulbs which put out less lumens.  Womp womp.  So now we are back to the drawing board.

I am considering these, but am not sure about the shades.

This light would be perfect for the boys bathroom.

I love this look! But it wood involve an electrician and cutting the mirror.

Decor Pad

This look would allow us to use the new mirrors, but still involves an electrician.

I can't find affordable (under $200 each), beautiful, bright light, 3 bulb chrome lights anywhere! Extra points for chrome or crystal accents. No fabric shades.

We struck out at Lowes, Home Depot, Joss & Main, Overstock, and Lamps Plus.  But maybe we missed something.  Any suggestions?

  1. I love the mirrors and sconces in the bottom pic. and I bet $$ that there is an electrician in your neighborhood. I would use the mirrors you have and do the sconces! Beautiful. I can't wait to have you help me redo my little house one day! HOpe all is well. Really sad we couldn't connect on my last trip down. Maybe we can get together if you guys come up in the spring or summer :)

    1. We do have an electrician in our neighborhood, but he's too busy right now. I reached out to one of his friends so we shall see.

I would love to help you with your house!

Sorry that I missed you! Life is always crazy on the weekends before and after Nick's work trips.

  2. I would check out shadesoflight.com as well as Pottery Barn. Ebay is a great place to look for lights you have on your wish list. I snagged 2 Restoration Hardware pendants in perfect condition for 75% off the retail price.
