One Year Housiversary - Porches and Exterior

Monday, October 19, 2020

Happy Monday!  I'm back with more of our one year housiversary updates.  Geesh! We have really accomplished a lot in one year.  Maybe that means that next year we will just sit back, relax and enjoy our house. Yeah right! Who am I kidding?  Let's get back to the updates. Come on in!

We intended to paint the house navy or dark gray after we bought it, but that plan has been put on hold.  We decided some smaller updates could make a big enough difference that we would be happy with the curb appeal. We had our awesome contractor Erik add molding over the garage door to help fill the gap between the windows, painted the front door SW Naval, added our furniture, and hanging ferns.
Here is the before picture from the MLS listing.  As you can see the front door was terra cotta colored. Doesn't the house look like it's missing eyebrows in this picture?  That's why we added the molding.

Now we are going to skip to everyone's favorite porch, our back screened porch.

Here's the porch from the listing.

Can you believe the difference?  I'll wait right here while you scroll up again.  This picture below is what the porch looked like with our furniture. We always felt like we were in a fish bowl.

Our contractor added the half walls and faux fireplace shiplap wall for us with Hardie Board.  Nick built the mantel which I think is absolutely gorgeous!

We eat here most nights and do a lot of entertaining on the porch.

This is JoeJoe's favorite spot.

It's my favorite spot too!

Some other updates that we have made, but are not shown is updating the landscaping in the back yard and having a small concrete patio put in for the grill and firepit. We need to get some rocking chairs for that space, but that's going to wait until next Summer.

Are you ready to see upstairs?  Come back later in the week to see the bonus room and boys' bedrooms. The Coastal Master Bedroom is almost complete!  I got the best news that the curtains shipped and will be here at the end of this week. So hopefully we can get them hung next weekend and I can shoot some pictures to share the space with you.

Cheers! Robin
